What’s to forgive?

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Martin Luther King

Why should you forgive?

Holding ANY negative emotion in your heart weighs your energy down, in a spiritual sense.  When you’re burdened by negative emotions, you can’t ascend to a higher level of consciousness.  When held-onto for long periods of time, negative emotions begin to paint your reality with shades of grey or black.  They can become lodged in your subconscious mind and will eventually dictate your life experience.

Happily, when you release hurtful or nonconstructive emotions, life gets a whole lot brighter. You might notice a smile on your face or hear song in your heart.

 What is there to forgive?

You might start by forgiving yourself.  Forgive yourself for everything that you ever felt was wrong with you as a person.  Forgive inappropriate lust, gluttony, greed, laziness, wrath, envy and pride.  Forgive your temper, anger, shame, fear, guilt, embarrassment, depression, or discouragement. Forgive yourself for thinking, saying, or doing anything that was thoughtless, abusive, oppressive, cruel or even terrorizing to yourself, or others.

Once you’ve forgive yourself, you’ll notice a lightness creeping into your heart.  Fake it ’til you make it.  Take a moment now and ‘pretend’ you forgive yourself of anything you felt guilty or embarrassed about.  Just for a moment, become an actor/actress and “FEEL” really great about being you.   Make that feeling much bigger.  Put a smile on your face.  Laugh at how ridiculous it all is and bask in this moment of feeling good.  Do this every day for the next 30 days and you’ll rewire your neural network so that feeling good happens automatically.

Next, forgive everyone in the world for the same things.  Forgive your family, friends, neighbours, employers and colleagues, members of your community, business people, corporations and politicians, other cultures and countries.  Forgive everyone you consider your friend and forgive everyone you’ve considered your enemy, or the enemy of your friends or the enemies of people you care about.  Forgive them all.

When you can truly forgive yourself and everyone else, you become light, in the most literal sense.  Your energy shines a whole lot brighter and everyone around you feels lighter.  We’re all connected and we are constantly manifesting our own reality.  When you become lighter within, everything in your reality starts to shift and life begins more peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable.

Lighten-up!
