  1. John Gronau says:

This is not metaphysics. Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy which uses logic and reason to understand the meaning and relations between universals. It is non-subjective and non-empirical, like mathematics. This is mysticism wrapped in scientific jargon. Mysticism is a type of knowing based on subjective intuition, it is non-rational, like religion. Science gleans knowledge empirically but then uses reason secondarily to form explanations of phenomena and their relations to each other. Metaphysics is counter to pure empiricism; mysticism is counter to rationalism; science is counter to mystical forms of metaphysics. If one forgets these ontological relations, the result is this type of confused and fuzzy hogwash.

      John,
Thank you for your passionate opinion! May I suggest that the definition of metaphysics can be argued?
Wikipedia describes Metaphysics as “…a traditional branch of philosophy concerned with explaining the fundamental nature of being and the world, although the term is not easily defined. Traditionally, metaphysics attempts to answer two basic questions in the broadest possible terms:
      What is there?
      What is it like?”
I’m a huge fan of Thomas Campbell’s work “My Big TOE (Theory of Everything). Few would attempt such a daunting exploration. I ran Tom’s book by a particle physicist. He read it, agreed with much of it, and found it worthy of scientific argument.
Personally, I consider the scientific method to be a historically slow, cruel, or even fatal path to higher consciousness and prefer the experiential and subjective approach of meditation and hypnosis. However, scientific minds want scientific evidence, so I sincerely appreciate the scientific approach of Thomas Campbell.
      Light, Love and Laughter!
      Elizabeth
