Paul Rademacher

‘If it scares me, I should do it!’  Paul Rademacher

On Friday, November 11, 2011,  TMI Calgary welcomed speaker Paul Rademacher, Executive Director of the Monroe Institute. Paul gave a 90 minute presentation titled “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Perceptions” at Self Connections Books.  Paul taught that in the twilight zone between sleep and wakefulness live vistas of breathtaking wonder.  These are the realms of wisdom, dreams, visions, and divine encounter.  He described how we visit these regions nightly in sleep, occasionally in trauma, and sometimes during intense creativity. Yet, we have been taught that awareness of nonphysical worlds is reserved for saints, shamans, and gurus at best and the mentally unbalanced at worst. As a result, our contemporary world is sadly impoverished as we deny ranges of perception that are our common birthright.  The pace of life and the ceaseless demands of western society all but insure our distraction from the spiritual quest.

Paul says it is possible for ordinary people to experience inner realms of breathtaking wonder. For over 30 years The Monroe Institute has been doing just that. Using a unique audio process (Hemi-Sync), thousands have discovered, in just a few days, perceptions that would otherwise take decades of disciplined practice by more traditional means.

In his presentation, Paul Rademacher discussed his own journey of self-discovery while explaining The Monroe Institute’s methods, history and effectiveness. Paul is Executive Director of The Monroe Institute, in Faber Virginia, known for its pioneering work in the exploration of human consciousness. Paul’s stories about his out of body experiences were both fascinating and amusing.  When he described his first out-of-body experience at TMI’s Gateway program, I was amazed at how easily he had connected with two other Gateway students in the out-of-body state and they had all shared a similar experience in a realm which he described as ‘the city of light’.  It’s during these shared experiences that we realize there is a life beyond this physical world that is not just our imaginations at work.  The thing I found amusing was that, each time he encountered a ‘being of light’ in the ‘city of light’, instead of stopping to chat, he would back away and hastily make a quick exit.  To get the rest of his story, you’ll have to read his book, ‘A Spiritual Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe: Travel Tips for the Spiritually Perplexed’ released May, 2009 by Hampton Roads Publishing.
