Effortless Meditation

“Usually, when the distractions of daily life deplete our energy, the first thing we eliminate is the thing we need the most: quiet, reflective time.  Time to dream, time to contemplate what’s working and what’s not, so that we can make changes for the better. ”   Sarah Breathnach

Here are some very simple instructions for effortless meditation.

a)  Just do it.   Do it now, any time, anywhere.

b)  Start by picking a point on the wall or ceiling and holding your gaze on that point.

c) Without moving your eyes, become aware of everything to your left and everything to your right.   Remain in that state of awareness for 15 minutes or half an hour.  Just remain aware and work on expanding your awareness.   Without moving your eyes, what do you see on your left in your peripheral vision?  What do you hear on your left?  What do you see on your right and hear on your right?

When you practice this enhanced awareness technique regularly, the benefits will become accumulative.  Your mind will become sharper, you will learn faster, you will remember more, become more relaxed and feel better overall.

You can practice this meditative technique while sitting, standing, or walking.  It is effective while you are working or listening to people.  It’s a wonderful state of mind to fall into frequently throughout the day because it enables your mind to work at a greater capacity.

In terms of self development, doing nothing is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself!
