Your Amazing Neighbours

Do you know how amazing some of your neighbours are?  This week, we were inspired to learn that some of our musical neighbours are making an amazingly positive impact around the world.  Our neighbour's band is Izzy's Troop and the musicians are Tom Poole, Roberta Travis, Diana Slater and Phyllis Wheaton.  Phyllis wrote a book called 'In the Mood for Peace' that tells the story of the IZZY DOLL PROGRAM. On 21 Jun 1994, Mcpl MARK ROBERT ISFELD was killed while removing land mines near Kakma,

Bye Bye Birdie

"I feel about my dogs now, and all the dogs I had prior to this, the way I feel about children — they are that important to me. When I have lost a dog I have gone into a mourning period that lasted for months." (Mary Tyler Moore) This week, we lost our beautiful German Shepherd, Birdie.  She was 14 years old. Birdie was clever and loved to run. When she was younger, she had a crush on a massive bulldog named Angus. She would stand in front of Angus and start spinning. She'd do pirouettes in

How to Change the World

"For me rappers and dancers are poets and artists and often times the most interesting performances are given by them." Ice Cube How do you change the world?  One way is through music.  Today, while volunteering at a musical event designed to inspire Aboriginal kids, I learned to appreciate Hip-Hop.  It turns out that Hip-Hop is more than a musical style.  It's a movement that has shifted people from poverty to empowerment, from violence to music and collaboration. It's the understanding that humans can upset the delicate balance of nature.  The delicate balance of nature is divinely designed by a great intelligence.  It meant for us to be able to have this experience and cares whether or not we upset the apple cart." Jeffrey Armstrong The work of Jeffrey Armstrong struck me as very important because his research uncovers ancient wisdom and surfaces vital

Your Highest Power

"Great masters neither want nor need your worship. Your greatest gift to them and yourself is to emulate their divinity by claiming it as your own." Alan Cohen Jesus taught his disciples that there is a high point in everyone that is their highest power. Think of your highest power as a meditation To get there, go inside yourself, then climb to the highest point of your being.  Go to your highest power in silence.  Clarity, direction, and all the answers you seek are there.  That’s where

At an Hour You Do Not Expect

“Our brains are no longer conditioned for reverence and awe. We cannot imagine a Second Coming that would not be cut down to size by the televised evening news, or a Last Judgment not subject to pages of holier-than-thou second-guessing in The New York Review of Books.” John Updike You've seen them before - ragged looking people  on street corners holding signs saying 'Repent!  Jesus is coming!'  Evangelists on TV demanding, 'Repent your sins!  Jesus is coming!' This year, I repeatedly walked

How To Sleep Well at Night

Diamond Lantern Book Signings are fun because of the wonderful people, interesting conversations, and great questions! One lovely couple asked how to sleep better at night.  Here are the 3 things that work well for me: 1.  Press the flat of your palm over the raised part of your sternum just below your throat.  Press for the count of 20.  This lowers your energy and relaxes you.  To fully awaken, thump your sternum 20 times. 2.  Since I am a Hypnotherapist, I also recommend that you
